Will Davies

Will currently works on commission as a sculptor, letter cutter and stone carver, based in South London.  His range of work covers portraiture, public and private commissions, memorials, restoration and lettering.

His list of clients include The Royal Household, The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, The Palace of Westminster, The U.S. Embassy and Windsor Castle.

Will's most recent Public Commission was the creation of a bronze bust to commemorate the involvment of Sir Keith Park in The Battle of Britain, unveiled by HRH The Duchess of Cornawall at The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, Capel-le-Ferne.

The restoration of Britain's built heritage plays a large part in Will's career, recently completing carving work for Westminster Abbey and The Eleanor Cross monument at Charing Cross.  Will upholds this work with the highest regard and feels it is important to provide a knowledgable and sensitive service to this cause.

Will started his career with stone as a mason, working on a number of restoration and new build projects in England, France and Spain.  He is a graduate of The City & Guilds of London Art School, and his ability was recognised by The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust when he was awarded a QEST Craft Scholarship to fund his studies.

Will is currently working on expanding his collection of exhibition pieces in between commissioned work, his influences are drawn from his early experiences from his masonry work, the sculpture and architecture of the european early medieval, gothic and renaissance periods.  He follows an interest in geology instilled in him by his father, and endeavours to use the physical aspects of the material he works with to commemorate the stone that he uses.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 57 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
