I trained and worked as a Fashion designer in the 90’s.
I also developed a passion for Ceramics and undertook a BA (Hons) Ceramics at University of Westminster and graduated in 2003. My first exhibition at Zelli Gallery won the Porcelain sculpture winner award 2003. I have taken part in a number of exhibitions and set up my own studio in London.
My work is inspired by nature and wild life especially horses and bears. The unique characters and their individual personalities present in the animal kingdom have on endless fascination for me. This presents a rich unlimited source of inspiration since I was a young girl who with my brothers spent our time catching the spirit of the wild in the rugged country of Southern Taiwan.
It was whilst I was at university that I started incorporating horses & bears into my work. I have pushed the boundaries of the material with my sculptures, working vigorously to build the form of the horse. They capture energy spirit and an expression of extreme and spontaneous movement.
I love classical sculpture and am particularly drawn to the Greek and Roman eras.
These are the rich reference for my horses that enable me use my fashion training to design and created a sculpture with a modern twist in a free-form stylize.
I work from thin slabs of porcelain clay coiling and slab build them into the idea shape of form. After apply with oxide and glaze firing at 1280°c .
I usually made my porcelain clay from the powder form add T material to give more strength in the porcelain clay body. My work is fired in kiln between 1260 – 1280°c.
