work by Zoe Garner

I have been working with glass for the last fourteen years, both Nationally and Internationally and have developed a personal style that identifies me as an artist, who designs: jewellery, wall panels, as well as making lighting and interior sited works.

I like to perfect techniques in order to get the best outcome and results.  I believe that craftsmanship and skill extend expressive freedom rather than limiting it.

I started my own business Zoe Garner Glass in 2007 producing work for galleries, exhibitions, and commissions. In 2008 I won the Pearson’s Glass Prize for best use of flame working, with a large flame worked wall panel Titled ne-o-nate this can be viewed on my website. My most recent work concentrates on sculptural jewellery, incorporating both glass and silver in my designs.

To create my pieces I use the technique of flame working, using both borosilicate rods and tubes and then sculpting them in the flame which reaches temperatures of 1200 degrees, then adding colour and texture to my work. I also use other materials and have designed a range incorporating cuttlefish cast silver and glass with crystal inclusions. Some of my commissions have included lighting for a Vivian Westwood Boutique, Boheme in Wansford Cambridgeshire, and also most recently I have been featured in February Vogue 2011 with my jewellery designs.
